Fourth Grade Youth Concert
Developed sixteen years ago as the first stage that enriches the fine arts experience for each of Allen ISD’s over 1700 Fourth Graders, the goal of the youth concert has been to get kids excited and interested in Classical music. This concert event provides the students with an enjoyable and educational experience that meets the fourth grade TEKS for music education and language arts. Now performed in the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Allen High School, this concert event is the collaboration of Allen Philharmonic’s Artistic Director, Richard Giangiulio; Tony Driggers, Allen ISD elementary school music coordinator;, and the campus music and elementary teachers.
The Allen Philharmonic has more fully developed the programming by inviting actors, soloists, and dance troupes as our special guests to interpret the featured work for the enjoyment of the students and their teachers.
Programming has included
- Carl Johnson as narrator of Grant Cooper’s arrangement of Rumplestiltzkin. Mr. Cooper, Conductor and Music Director of the West Virginia Symphony, has turned his passion of reaching children musically into fun works everyone can enjoy.
