Stories In Song

The Allen Philharmonic Orchestra & Symphony Chorus look welcomes you to our spring concert event, Stories in Song, Friday, April 21st at 7:30pm in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
Musical selections for this concert feature Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs, Set 1, showcasing the Allen Symphony Chorus; Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, his orchestral work featuring dazzling orchestration based on the work The Arabian Nights; and featured guest artist, pianist Xuesha Hu, 2016 Grand prize winner of the Young Texas Artist Competition.
With a spontaneous vibrant personality and communicative artistry, 24-year-old pianist Xuesha Hu won first prize in the 8th Bosendorfer and Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition on January 8, 2017 in Phoenix Arizona; first prize in piano in the 32nd Young Texas Artists Competition in March 2016 in Conroe, Texas; first prize both in the 2013 53rd Jefferson International Concerto Competition, Colorado, as well as the 2013 Lennox Piano Competition in Dallas, Texas. We are delighted to welcome her to the stage performing Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Come hear the Allen Philharmonic provide the music for the Allen Civic Ballet’s annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Enjoy your favorite numbers from the ballet while you watch some of the area’s most promising young dancers depict the story of Clara saving the life of her Nutcracker Prince. A John Rutter Christmas

December 3 – 7pm at First United Methodist Church of Allen.

Our Christmas program, featuring the Allen Symphony Chorus with musicians from the APO, will feature carols by the timeless English composer, John Rutter. Among the works performed will be Angels Carol, What Sweeter Music, Star Carol, and Candlelight Carol. Come celebrate the season with these seasonal favorites!


Halloween Hauntcert

OCTOBER 21 – Lowery Freshman Center Auditorium. 7pm.

Join us for a family-friendly evening of spooky music and Halloween favorites. The program will include music from Ghostbusters, Harry Potter, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the classical Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saens. We’ll even perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller, complete with zombie dancers!

Starting at 6, arrive for a fall carnival, complete with pumpkin decorating crafts, a photo booth with your favorite cold-weather princess, and a costume contest!
